Summer Meze Feast

I have long maintained that the Middle Eastern/Mediterranean way of eating is the best for hot summer days; lots of small dishes, many of which are vegetarian, often served cold or at room temperature. Vegetables, roasted or raw, dressed in yogurt or tahini, salads of many colors and varieties drizzled with olive oil, platters of nuts and olives and baked goods stuffed with cheese and summer herbs. All the way from Iran, to Turkey, to Lebanon, to Greece, to Egypt and beyond, meze (or mezze) is a way of life, often next to a glass of wine, araq, ouzo or something similar.

I’m throwing a lavish spread and you are invited: Friday, June 13 , come to my Summer Meze Feast at Latteria Studio (Monteverde Nuovo, Rome). We’ll have delicious food, wine, music and sunshine. Gaia will be with me in the kitchen. Some of the recipes we’ll cook are from my book Pomegranates & Artichokes, which will be available to purchase (in English and Italiano) thanks to Otherwise Bookshop. Delicious local wines will be provided by sommelier and wine educator Sarah May Grunwald.

This is a bittersweet event, as my friend Alice Adams Carosi is closing Latteria Studio at the end of the month. As I have almost always hosted my cooking classes and other culinary events in Rome in this charming space, this means that until further notice this will be my last event in Rome (unless you have a suitable space and want to collaborate?). My first idea was to host a cooking class, as they seem to be the most popular, but I wanted a setting where more of you can join, so we’re having a little Summer Meze Feast. Join us!
